Newsflash!  Woman breaks dieting cycle, discovers stopping point!

Sally is a 28-year old, unmarried, professional woman who learned from her mom at a young age “how to diet.” She was a regular attendee at Weight Watchers meetings by the time she was twelve, and dieted on and off all through junior high, high school, college, and graduate school. Sally tried everything to lose weight. She would limit herself to eating only 800 calories per day while exercising vigorously at least two hours per day, which would only last for a week or so before she would “give in” to her “cravings” and “eat like there was no tomorrow.” She feared that she was “addicted to sugar.”

Luckily, she was referred to a health care practitioner known for using Ellyn Satter’s How to Eat approach and decided to give it a try.  By the end of twelve weeks, Sally started venturing into the kitchen to prepare some meals for herself and was surprised at how much she enjoyed making food to suit her satisfaction and pleasure! She even discovered, to her delight, that she actually had a “stopping point” with desserts!
