Workshop for professionals

Understand and apply the Satter Eating Competence Model

Understand and apply the Satter Eating Competence Model

Audience

Health, mental health, and nutrition professionals who are thoroughly familiar with Ellyn Satter’s book, Secrets of Feeding a Healthy Family (including the appendixes), have taken the ecSatter webcast training on CD, and are ready to incorporate a weight neutral  approach  to weight management.

Description

ecSatter is a model. It is a complete package to be used instead of, not as an adjunct to detailed instructions about what and/or how much to eat. The positive eating attitudes and behaviors systemized by ecSatter allow maintaining a nutritionally adequate diet, eating the right amount of food to stabilize weight, and support health. This workshop establishes a shared understanding of ecSatter by briefly reviewing theoretical underpinnings and evidence, then moving on to practical application. Stage-related videos illustrate the underpinnings and antecedents of positive and negative adult eating attitudes and behaviors. Case examples demonstrate applying ecSatter principles in solving nutritional problems as well as addressing distorted eating attitudes and behaviors.
